Basic Food Hygiene Half day course


Aim

The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health course is designed to give students a basic understanding of the principles of food hygiene in the workplace.

Objectives

On completion of the course students will be able to:

  • Undertake basic food hygiene operations in the workplace

  • Have an understanding of food hygiene legislation

  • Be able to implement food hygiene measures

Successful students will be awarded the CIEH nationally recognised certificate in Health and Safety.

 

The course covers:

  • Hazard spotting

  • Introduction to food safety

  • Microbiology and illness, bacteria, high risk foods

  • Contamination and prevention of illness

  • Temperature control

  • Preparing and presenting food

  • Spoilage and preservation

  • Delivery and storage

  • Cleaning and disinfection

  • Food pests

  • Premises and equipment

  • Food safety control
